A Day at the UK Parliament – A Memorable Trip by Leamington Hindu Youth Group
On the morning of 14th April, members from the three Leamington branches of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS UK) boarded a coach full of excitement and energy for a special day out — a guided tour of the UK Parliament in London.
The tour began right on schedule. Our wonderful guides immediately captured our attention with fascinating stories about the Palace of Westminster — a building with over a thousand years of history and a unique blend of architectural styles. As we walked through the Central Lobby and the chambers of the House of Commons and House of Lords, we were taken on a journey through Britain’s rich political history — one filled with dramatic events, from treason plots and fires to key turning points and heroic figures.
Our young members impressed the guides with their knowledge of the British monarchy and political traditions, answering questions with confidence and enthusiasm.
Time flew as we explored the intricate artwork, stained glass windows, and portraits of historic monarchs and political leaders. We also learned how laws are made, how voting takes place, and how deeply the UK respects and preserves its democratic heritage.
Everyone was left in awe of the grandeur of the Parliament building and the fascinating stories hidden within its halls.
The fun didn’t stop there. The journey home was full of singing, games, laughter — and of course, tasty samosas and dinner! Even after a full day on our feet, no one seemed tired. Instead, we returned with even more energy, new knowledge, and stronger friendships within our group — our Shakha Parivar, or extended community family.
