The British Hindu Community Responds to Misrepresentations of Hindutva
The British Hindu community is actively working to challenge and clarify the deliberate attempts to misrepresent the meaning of Hindutva.
But what is Hindutva?
The word Hindutva is formed from two parts: “Hindu” and the suffix “-tva”. “Hindu” refers to a cultural and civilisational identity rooted in the traditions of the Indian subcontinent. The suffix “-tva” means “the essence of”.
So, Hindutva simply means “Hindu-ness” — the essence of being Hindu.
It is Dharma in action. It represents the lived expression of Hindu values, culture, and identity.
