Charity Walk Raises Over £500 for the Mayor’s Chosen Charity

Members of the Wokingham Branch of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK) came together in a spirit of community service to support Daisy’s Dreams, the Mayor of Wokingham’s chosen charity.

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK), commonly known as HSS (UK), is a voluntary cultural and community organisation that promotes personal development, family values, community service, and active citizenship across the United Kingdom. Volunteering and supporting charitable causes are an important part of its work, providing opportunities for individuals and families to contribute positively to the communities in which they live.

As part of the initiative, members of HSS (UK) organised a charity walk and fundraising campaign, bringing together volunteers and supporters for a shared cause. Through their enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment, the initiative successfully raised more than £500 for Daisy’s Dreams.

Support from Local Leaders

The event was honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Wokingham and Clive Jones MP, who joined the participants to show their support and recognise the contribution being made by the local HSS (UK) community.

They praised the dedication of the volunteers and acknowledged the positive impact of community-led fundraising and volunteering. Their presence also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local community organisations, residents, and civic leaders in supporting causes that benefit people in the wider community.

The Value of Service

The initiative reflects the Hindu and Indian cultural value of selfless service, encouraging individuals to use their time, skills, and resources for the benefit of others.

Within Hindu traditions, service is often seen as an expression of compassion and social responsibility. HSS (UK) seeks to put these principles into practice through activities that encourage people of all ages to participate in charitable work, volunteering, and community initiatives.

The charity walk provided an opportunity for families and individuals to come together, enjoy physical activity, and contribute towards an important local cause. It also demonstrated how small contributions, when combined through collective effort, can make a meaningful difference.

Strengthening Community Connections

Beyond the funds raised, the event helped strengthen relationships between the HSS (UK) community and the wider Wokingham community. Initiatives such as this create opportunities for people from different backgrounds to work together around shared values of compassion, generosity, and service.

The Wokingham Branch of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (UK) continues to encourage individuals and families to take an active role in supporting society and contributing positively to their local community.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the volunteers, supporters, well-wishers, and local community leaders who helped make the initiative a success.

The event was a positive example of how community spirit, charitable giving, physical activity, and a culture of service can come together to make a meaningful local impact.
